Blueberries are native to North America and have been part of life here for 13,000 years. The first highbush blueberry bush was successfully cultivated for production in the early 1900s. Today, blueberries are grown in many states across the country, including South Carolina. They were first introduced to South Carolina in the early 1900s, and is now one of the top producers of blueberries in the country.
